Jill, a director at Aestima, was educated at The City of London School for Girls, subsequently working for the Bank of England for 16 years.
Upon leaving the bank, she then trained to become a law costs consultant Services to Lawyers Costs, now known as Aestima. Training with such experienced consultants has strongly influenced her own approach to costs, as she combines traditional methods with modern, innovative thinking when conferring with clients.
Jill has considerable experience in public funding costs and has drawn many high costs case plans. This naturally has led her to specialise in the preparation of budgets within civil litigation. Throughout cases she works closely with clients, maintaining a professional yet amenable approach to her work.
She strives to increase costs recovery, encouraging her clients to maintain files that give her the best opportunity of justifying the costs claimed. To achieve this, she gives talks and seminars to both individuals and organisations on all areas of legal costs.
Regularly attending detailed assessment hearings at the Senior Courts Costs Office and the County Court, she has also acted as advocate on occasions in the Supreme Court, Upper Tribunal (Lands) and the National Taxing Office. She also attends costs case management conferences in the High Court and County Court too, often assisting counsel.
Jill supports a number of different charities that include SCOPE, Multiple Sclerosis, Cancer Research and the RNLI. Show Jill an unusual or arduous trek and she will be there!
